One-on-One Tutoring

Bootstrap Tutoring offers personalized one-to-one lessons for children ages 4–10 that are tailored to your child’s needs and learning style. Our in-person lessons provide a creative and fun environment where they can feel comfortable while learning. We understand that everyone learns differently, which is why we offer individualized lessons that focus on their strengths and address any areas where they may need improvement.

Reasonable Rates

We believe every child deserves quality, personalized, affordable tutoring. Our regular rate is $50 per child, per session. Sessions are typically one hour, but when a child needs a little more time to grasp a concept, the session may be extended for up to two hours at no additional charge. We want every child to have the time, patience, and individual attention needed to grow in both skill and confidence.

Core Concepts

Bootstrap's Mission

Learning begins with a strong foundation of basic concepts. Our programs are designed to instill that foundation in our students. At Bootstrap Tutoring, we provide students with the fundamental building blocks in math, phonics, reading, reading comprehension, handwriting, and other early learning skills. Rather than simply teaching to a grade level, Bootstrap Tutoring focuses on the individual skills your child is developing. They don’t need more pressure, often they just need a different approach.

Bootstrap Tutoring's mission is to provide holistic, personalized tutoring that helps young students grasp fundamental concepts in a fun and engaging way. We work closely with each child from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade to identify their strengths and areas where they need additional support, creating an individualized learning plan designed to set them up for success. Our goal is not only to build academic skills and confidence, but also to foster a lifelong passion for learning in a nurturing environment where character and personal growth are valued. With parental permission, biblical stories may occasionally be incorporated into reading assignments or discussions, including conversations surrounding holidays. We believe that supporting a child's academic, personal, and spiritual development helps them grow into confident, well-rounded individuals.

Subsequent to retiring from the federal government, after 20 years of service as a computer network technologist, Pamela Mason brings a unique combination of professional experience, problem-solving skills, and a genuine love for working with children to Bootstrap Tutoring. After retiring from federal service, Ms. Pam opened and operated a daycare facility for six years. Her passion for helping children grow and learn also led her to serve for seven years as superintendent of the Lower Level Division for Children and Youth at her local church. As a mother who homeschooled her three sons for several years, Ms. Pam understands that every child learns differently. She has seen firsthand that sometimes a child doesn't need more pressure—they simply need someone willing to slow down, find another way to explain a concept, and give them the confidence to keep trying. During her final four years in Baltimore, she began Bootstrap Tutoring, providing personalized, in-person instruction to young students. She continued working with her Baltimore students for the past two years while living in Newburg and is now bringing Bootstrap Tutoring to the Southern Maryland community. Her experience working with young children, combined with her knowledge of reading, math, foundational concepts, and individualized instruction, allows Ms. Pam to meet children where they are and help them move forward—one step at a time.

Testimonials

My son worked several years with Ms. Pam in his elementary school years. He improved dramatically in reading and math. She is good at breaking down the complex ideas into smaller units and making his learning more fun. He loved her creative, attentive style and has made great strides academically. She became like a member of the family cheering him on. He hit middle school with a BANG and has been on the honor roll consistently! Thank you, Ms. Pam!
